ON HIGH CONSUMPTION
Riverina Water have adopted targets to reduce water consumption in 2009/10
by 20% compared to previous years. The targets take into account previous
years consumption, prevailing weather and the previous weeks consumption.
However, as we are experiencing a record November hot spell, with virtually
no rainfall, consumption is well above the target. The demands in Wagga
are already up to those we would normally expect in late January. And
it is not summer yet. The difference between the target and last week's
consumption is due to this extraordinary weather and the watering required
to keep gardens alive and air conditioners running.
